Harvey at work
Harvey has been in financial services for more than 35 years. He’s seen the industry evolve and change over that time. This has resulted in improved outcomes for Suttons’ clients by way of better products with lower charges and more efficient servicing.
Harvey believes the level of professionalism of companies and individuals has progressed beyond measure. Clients now have expectations of a minimum standard of Chartered status for the advisory firm and adviser, both of which are on offer at Suttons.
Part of Harvey’s role is to look at how best to utilise new technology such as AI, upgraded client portals, and life planning software to help drive a better experience for our clients. These are consistently changing and improving, and keeping up to date is a very demanding and interesting process for Harvey.
It’s said that the biggest challenge of any business is managing the employees. Harvey, however, says he feels very lucky that the people he works with are very engaging and inspirational with their desire to improve themselves and progress while delivering a first-class client service consistently. These people are the real driver that makes him want to get up and come to work so he can mentor and share the knowledge he has with them to keep them growing.
Harvey also likes to impress on everyone the importance of maintaining a sense of fun in the workplace, as we all spend so much of our life at work so we need to enjoy ourselves.
While he’s no longer giving advice, Harvey still plans to be actively involved in growing and expanding the business into the future. The plan is that the management team eventually buy and take over the business to ensure the commitment we give to our clients is maintained.
